Hornady Critical Duty 40 S&W loads the 175-grain FlexLock bullet — a barrier-blind projectile engineered for law enforcement and defensive applications where penetration through intermediate barriers is essential. The FlexLock design combines a mechanically locked core with an elastomer insert in the hollow point cavity, preventing clogging when passing through heavy clothing, wallboard, plywood, or auto glass. Terminal performance remains consistent across FBI protocol barrier tests, delivering reliable expansion and 12–18 inches of penetration in calibrated gelatin.

This duty-grade load uses low-flash propellant in nickel-plated cases with sealed primers for dependable ignition in adverse conditions. Compatible with full-size and compact 40 S&W pistols from Glock, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson M&P, and others. Sold in 20-round boxes; 200 rounds per case.
