Maxim Defense SBA (Short Barrel Ammunition) in 7.62x39 uses a 117-grain solid copper TUI (Tumble Upon Impact) projectile engineered specifically for optimal performance from barrels under 10 inches. The TUI design sacrifices traditional expansion for predictable tumbling and fragmentation after impact, delivering effective terminal performance even at the reduced velocities inherent to short-barreled platforms. This load addresses the velocity loss that hampers conventional hollow-point expansion from compact rifles and pistols.

Compatible with AK-pattern pistols, short-barreled rifles, and any 7.62x39 platform, though performance is optimized for barrels 6–10 inches.
